February business networking with a lot of love in the room
Covid stopped play for our Chair, Lindie from Zulu Graphix, this month. So, it was over to Fiona from SMART Nutrition and Fitness to save the day at our February business networking meeting. And what a great job she did at keeping us all on track!
We welcomed several new faces including Aysem Ober – who does Gifts & Flowers and Coffee Roaster, Jayne Cromwell. Great to see Fertility and Pregnancy Coach, Karen Deulofeu back. Also MakeUp Artist, Shair Basir and Caterer Suzanne James. And finally, it was a welcome return as a visitor for Mary from Mary and Mick design.
In keeping with Valentine’s month, there was lots of love in the room. We were very happy to hear that Rosa from BodySense Beauty Treatments won salon of the year 2021. And Alex from Therapia offered Valentines vouchers for massage.
Membership of Laptops and Lipstick has so many benefits. At our February business networking, Jenni offered all Laptop members free hypnotherapy and Sam from Sycamore VA services offered her services to members at a discount.
Charley from ShortFilms London, last month’s winner of the Best One Minute award, was unable to attend due to COVID. So Alka was given the job of selecting the best minute. She chose Maria from the HR Dept for her imaginative use of ‘F’ words – Furlough, Fraud and, well, swearing – explaining how this could be problematic in the work place. Without a physical award, Maria was presented with a bar of chocolate instead and she looked very happy with that!
The 10 minutes…
Alka from Critical Mission Computing gave us an interesting presentation this month. She told us how she came to start the company after arriving in the UK from India. As Alka explained, she qualified in computer programming at a time when computers had their own rooms and cooling systems and programmers had to remove their shoes for fear of dust contamination!
And just to make sure we were paying attention, she also kept us all engaged by ending her presentation with a quiz.
