5th February – new member joins the group
It’s always great to welcome a new member to our business networking group in Beckenham. This month it’s Debbie Mehmet from The Address Estate Agents. We’re looking forward to learning more about Debbie and how we can help her to grow her business over the coming months.
We’re also now open to applications from local charities to be our Charity partner for 2020/2021. The successful organisation will be awarded a free annual membership including their monthly lunch fee. A package worth £449. And they get to attend 12 monthly meetings for FREE to tell us how they’re looking for support. For our existing charity we have bucket rattled, present wrapped, rowed in dragon boat races and sky dived. But we’ve also attended glamorous balls and drunk prosecco (it’s a hard life). We also organise an annual fundraising event of our own – usually a quiz night.
All we ask in return is that the charity attends the monthly meetings and enters into the spirit and ethos of our business networking group. We’re encouraging interested charities to visit our meetings in March and April to see what it’s all about. Will will vote on the nominations at our AGM in April.
This month we met Rachel Lindley from Five Talents and Amy Thomas from Demelza. And in terms of non charity visitors, we welcomed Eva Levinson who teaches First Aid courses. Also, Lauren Edwards from the London Hemp Store and Denise Sanderson-Estcourt from DamsonBelle.
The 10 minutes…
A truly fabulous presentation by Maria from the HR Dept. To demonstrate the breadth of issues on which she and her colleagues can support local businesses, she presented us with an A to Z of HR. We got to pick a letter and Maria told us at least three interesting corresponding HR facts/issues.
In a supportive move, we tried to catch her out by picking the harder letters but she even had X and Z covered. But if you want to know how zombies and zebras come into HR you’ll have to ask her!
Our only complaint was that it couldn’t last longer! Really informative as per from the HR Dept.
